The Elevation Process
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of teaching at Calvary Kendall on a Wednesday night. In fact, not only did I teach, but pastor Pedro lead worship as well. “The Switch” we called it. It was a time of stepping out of our comfort zones and forcing our selves to stretch. Fortunately, my pastor is the kinda guy who can pull this kind of thing off (i.e. Don’t try this at home). And it hopefully encouraged those in the body to get out of their comfort zones and serve God in whatever ways they can.
The subject matter of my message was suggested by pastor Pedro, which was the subject of worship. “How convenient!” I thought. “I’m a worship leader, and my first ever sermon will be on the subject of worship!” Convenient it was, but easy it was not. It took me a week to prep my message (it takes the normal pastor a few days). I gotta be honest, I didn’t have a life for that one week. I don’t think my wife even knew who I was. But despite my nerves, I believe God still worked in and through me.
My message was entitled “The Elevation Process” and described “the before, the during, and the after” of the worship experience. “The Before” was the heart prep. What we do before entering before God in worship. “The During” was a handful of examples of worship we see in the Bible and can therefore practice in the church today. And “The After” asked the question, what happens when we leave these four walls? After the service, when we walk through those doors, back to the real world, how do we incorporate worship into our every day lives? Because worship doesn’t stop in the church. Worship is to be a lifestyle, a constant practice.
It was a great time for sure and I hope to do it again in the future! You can watch the video below to see the teaching for yourself >>>
