Good Christmas Music
Any Christmas music list is incomplete without the sweet southern rock Christmas renditions of Family Force 5. Business up front, raging Christmas party in the back.
On the opposite side of the spectrum is Sufjan Stevens’ melodic, folky holiday goodness. With the price of one album, you get five! And it’s all good! My favorite Sufjan song is in this collection, “That Was the Worst Christmas Ever!”
Next up is Seabird’s Christmas album. I personally think Seabird is one of the most underrated songwriters of our time, lyrically and musically, and this album is no exception. The Christmas songs on this album are done in a way you’ve never heard before. The melodies and chord progressions are completely re-created from the ground up and it sounds amazing.
Future Of Forestry is already a must-listen-to band, their sound is super unique. I’m pretty sure this is their latest release (2010). Once again, like Seabird, you’ve never heard Christmas songs done like this. Once you start listening, you just can’t stop.
The fifth and final album is the newest release of them all. Hillsong’s “Born Is The King” is a breath of fresh air for anyone looking for new Christmas music. Our church just recently started playing the title track off the album, “Born Is The King (It’s Christmas Time)”, and the church is loving it
