Recording the RBLBND EP
The past few days my wife and I have been in a pleasant little town in the middle of Georgia. And although this place is small-town, not bustling, not the city, it’s still one of the greatest places we’ve stayed. The hospitality in places like this is insane. It’s something you’ll never find in big cities. Everywhere you turn, someone is doing something to help you. And although that was a highlight of our trip, it wasn’t the biggest.
The reason we came here was to record a few songs I’ve written. We want to play these songs at the One Conference, but due to the fact that no one has heard them, we wanted to give people a jump start on them. Our hope is that they won’t hear these songs for the first time at the conference. We want to give them a chance to know and learn them before the conference through our radio station and other forms of media, but we wanted to do it right.
We were able to (I have no idea how) have Steve Fee and Trey Roth help us record the songs. It’s been a privilege and an honor having these guys help us. And it’s obviously been a dream come true for me. Just a few years ago I was working a nine-to-five job in California, just a few months married to my wife. Now? I live in Miami, I have a beautiful son with my beautiful wife, I’m fully fulfilling the call God has placed on my life, getting huge, HUGE opportunities dropped in my lap, leading worship for events and people I only dreamed of working with and now add to that list getting my songs tracked by some of the biggest guys in the industry. And there’s one word that sums it all up… GRACE.
The only, and I mean the ONLY reason I’m where I am today is because of the grace of God bestowed on my life every single day. It’s crazy grace. It’s impossible grace. It’s over-the-top, way-too-much, overboard grace. It’s wonderful, wonderful grace. And my prayer and desire is that I would never lose that perspective.
Once again, these guys were incredible to work with. They pushed me and my voice to places I had no idea it could go, but then again, that’s exactly why they’re pro’s. I’m so excited about these three songs and I’m so stoked for everyone to hear them. I’m especially stoked to teach them to the ONE crowd. My prayer is that these songs would be a blessing and encouragement to the church, that these words God has penned through me would be the anthem of peoples hearts and would be lived out in their lives.
Below is a picture of (from left to right) Trey, me and Steve. I’ll keep you posted on when the songs get released. Stay tuned!
